Mason County Literacy Receives Donation from Philanthropic Wine Maker
Mason County Literacy has accepted a generous donation from the local philanthropic wine makers at McGavick Winery. Starting in November, when a $200 tax deductible donation is made to Mason County Literacy, the donor will receive a case of their choice of McGavick Wine in Merlot or Cabernet and Mason County Literacy will receive 100% of the proceeds. Special wholesale pricing is available for restaurants who wish to support Mason County Literacy by adding a quality local selection to their wine list. "We are excited to be one of the charities that McGavick Winery has chosen to receive this very generous gift," says Kris Smock, Executive Director. "Their generosity will continue to make Mason County a stronger community through literacy." McGavick Winery is a local winery that blends old world craftsmanship with heart. Owned by Bill Broich & Phyllis McGavick Broich, the winery has two driving principles: Creating the very best in wine and donating 100% of all wine proceeds to charity. "The theory behind this is to help the greater good by providing help on the local level," says Broich. The Broiches pay all of the winery's overhead out of their own pockets - at least $80,000 annually and their volunteers help them bottle, label, box and prepare their wine for charitable distribution. About Mason County Literacy: The mission of Mason County Literacy is to provide the skills and services necessary for learners to achieve meaningful participation in a literate society and to encourage the self-confidence and imagination to use those tools for the benefit of self, family, and the communities served by Mason County Literacy.
