Environmental Explorations Seeking Event VolunteersEach year the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group sponsors a local environmental fair hosting approximately 800-900 students, chaperones and teachers from throughout the Hood Canal watershed. The event brings in approximately 35 + presenters from agencies, societies and conservation groups who are experts in their field teaching students about Wild Salmon ecosystems and the interconnectedness of all the biota and abiota elements it is comprised of. This includes everything from water quality to wildlife to ecosystem habitats. There are five venues students will have the opportunity to participate in during their visit to the Environmental Explorations event. These venues include: Live Wildlife Presentations, Wild Salmon Ecosystem interconnectedness presentation, Nature Mapping/ Wild Wise, Nearshore investigations and the Environmental Fair. Volunteers are needed primarily for event support including; chaperone, presenter & volunteer check in greeters, information station, station support, event security, parking support for arriving busses, first aide support, lunch support and event set-up/breakdown. Specific one-on one interaction with attending students is NOT a volunteer need. Attending chaperones and teachers are responsible for their students. If you are interested and available, this event is scheduled to take place at Belfair State Park on Wednesday, May 7th from 7:30 AM- 2:30 PM. Set up will begin on May 6th. Please contact Chris Daniel at the HCSEG office at 360-275-3575 or chris@hcseg.org. Lastly, a continental breakfast, lunch and an Environmental Explorations T-shirt will be provided for all attending volunteers. We really need you help. Thank you in advance for your support in helping with our Wild Salmon recovery and education efforts.
