Attorney Goodell Announces Candidacy for Mason County Superior Court Judge

Dan Goodell

Shelton, WA - Belfair attorney Daniel Goodell has announced his candidacy for Mason County Superior Court Judge, Position 1. Judge James Sawyer, II, who currently holds this position, is retiring this fall.

Goodell's legal career began in 1984 when he became a practicing attorney. He has served as Judge Pro Tem in Shelton Municipal Court from 1997 to 2002 and currently serves as Judge Pro Tem in Mason County District Court, where he has served since 1998.

Since opening his Belfair law office in 1994, Goodell has provided a broad range of legal services to his clients, including criminal and civil litigation, family law, real estate law, elder law, estate planning, and probate and personal injury. He also writes a monthly column for the North Mason Life newspaper, where he explains common, but difficult to understand legal concepts.

"I see the Superior Court judgeship as an opportunity for me to better serve the residents of Mason County, taking my passions for justice and community and combining them with the wisdom gained from my broad base of experiences as an attorney, as a Judge Pro Tem and in life," said Goodell.

Goodell and his wife, Barb, have enjoyed raising their family in Mason County and have volunteered many hours in non-profit endeavors over the years. With the community's full support, they have worked to bring a Boys and Girls Club to the area, established a youth kayak-building program and are shepherding a college scholarship fund in their daughter's memory.

Goodell currently serves as honorary member of the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of South Sound, North Mason Branch; as trustee of the North Mason Chamber of Commerce; as administrative council chairperson of the North Mason United Methodist Church; as president of On Paddles' Wings, the high school youth kayak-building program; and as a member of the board of directors of the Marissa Ann Goodell Shining Star Scholarship.
